About the Blog
As I’ve mentioned throughout this site, I’m very passionate about what I do. It is a driving force in my life, and is highly fulfilling. As a result, I tend to talk about it. At length. To everyone I know. I suspect that this blog will be no exception.
Hopefully, my quirky interests and odd sense of humor won’t confuse/infuriate you. If they do, well, I won’t be offended if you decide to read the musings of someone more interesting than little ol’ me.

Saturday Spot of Happy
11.7.09, 10:45am | NaBloPoMo, Saturday Spot of Happy, The Internet
It’s another cold, rainy, funky-weather morning in Seattle. Rain is pouring, the wind is howling, and the whole world seems to be saying “stay inside! Read books all day! Drink hot tea and eat pumpkin pie!” Lethargy is in the air. The only individuals who seem to have any energy are the fuzzy little beasties that delight in chasing each other around the house and chittering at the birds battling the weather outside.
On these sunshine-less days, I turn to the Internet for joy and entertainment. “Be the beacon of light on my heart, oh great network of servers,” I cry. “Give me hope for the new day, and banish from my soul these cobwebs of despair!”
Certainly, there are a plenty of places online that encourage negativity in the hopes of cultivating humor. Not all of these places are awful, sites such as Regretsy, There I Fixed It, and Fail Blog are on my regular daily reading list. Sometimes, however, I need an emotional pick-me-up.
This week, the following Internet phenomena provided me with the positivity I desired.
Wil Wheaton’s Memories of the Futurecast:
Most of us know Wil Wheaton as Welsey Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Since those humble beginnings, he’s become an well-known blogger, writer, and actor. Wil recently finished a book titled “Memories of the Future, Vol. 1”, in which he reviews each episode in the first half of the first season of Star Trek: TNG, as well as telling behind-the-scenes stories from the set. To promote it, he recorded a series of podcasts in which he read excerpts from the book. They are surprisingly awesome and hilarious. I’d definitely recommend listening to these podcasts, as well as listen to his live reading from Happiest Days of Our Lives and review of Star Trek: TNG Episode 8 - Justice at Phoenix Comicon 2008. And, of course, buy his book if you enjoy the podcasts.
TinyBuddah.com:
TinyBuddah.com is a twitter account and blog that posts Buddhist quotes (or Buddhist-like quotes), and corresponding blog posts about how they apply to everyday life. The site also features guest bloggers who write about Buddhist ideas. You don’t have to be Buddhist to find it enjoyable, uplifting, and interesting!
Where the Hell is Matt?:
Matt is this guy, who one day started a video project featuring him dancing in front of famous monuments, the type that usually appear on postcards. It sounds a little dorky (and it is, trust me), but it’s also fantastic, evolving into a great project that included Matt’s supporters dancing with him. So yay. This is the most recent videoWhere the Hell is Matt? (2008), and this is a talk he gave explaining the whole thing and its evolution as a project.
Hope these little gems help brighten up your Saturday!
